Michelin-Starred Colombian restaurant Elcielo Miami opened its second location at SLS South Beach

Last month Michelin-starred Elcielo Miami opened its second location at the SLS South Beach, marking a significant step in the restaurant's ongoing expansion.

Alongside its original establishment in Miami, Elcielo already had operational locations in Medellín, Bogotá, and Washington, D.C. The latter was notably the first Colombian restaurant to achieve a Michelin star. This expansion was also noteworthy for SLS South Beach, adding to its collection of culinary offerings. The new restaurant occupied the space previously held by The Bazaar by José Andrés, which had been transformed by designer Philippe Starck.



In Miami's Brickell neighborhood, the original location introduced patrons to a Colombian-inspired tasting menu that paid tribute to Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos' heritage. This menu was replicated at the SLS South Beach location, and notably, for the first time, offered the option for diners to select items a la carte.


"We are excited to introduce our second Elcielo Miami location at the captivating SLS South Beach," Barrientos stated in a press release. "Elcielo at SLS South Beach is set to be a distinctive experience—our initial venture into Elcielo a la carte. We will be presenting the finest Elcielo dishes, including cherished classics like corn arepa and caviar, 'árbol de la vida,' ribs in guava and tamarind, yucca gnocchi with truffle, and sweet plantain honey, but with innovative twists. These unique offerings will be exclusive to the new location and will also be paired with our top cocktail bar selections. These include Chimberito Aguardiente featuring cachaça, soursop, yuzu, and the Bogota Sour crafted with bourbon, lemongrass, lime, and Malbec wine, among others."



At SLS South Beach, guests had the pleasure of savoring signature dishes such as truffle buñuelos with torched foie gras, crispy crab empanadas infused with Caribbean spices, lulo ceviche in passion fruit milk, roasted quail stuffed with guanciale and mushrooms, and the visually striking Tree of Life crafted from cassava, cheese, and basil. These delicacies were presented as individual plates.
